Maldives often come up when planning honeymoons. I also had my honeymoon in Maldives so I thought I’d write a post about it for the ones considering Maldives for their honeymoon.
Maldives is a great destination for a honeymoon because this place is specially designed to cater honeymoon couples. I stayed at Paradise Island Resort and Spa so my opinion is based on my experience there.
Paradise Island Resort and Spa
I stayed at Paradise Island Resort and Spa. This island’s local name is Lankanfinolhu. It is about 9.6 Km away from the airport. I had booked the Superior Beach Bungalow. The island is 1 km long and 230 meters in width. It has around six different restaurants including Japenese, Italian and seafood. There is an amazing Spa on this Island too. This island also offers a bunch of thrilling water sports.
How many days are enough?
This obviously depends on what kind of honeymoon you’re looking for. If you only want a luxury honeymoon you can spend even up to ten days here. But if you’re anything like me, two days here would be enough and then you can add another destination in your honeymoon. I went to Sri Lanka for four days before coming to Maldives for two and a half days. And for me, two days were enough to cover this island.
What to do?
You can book different water activities. I went for snorkelling and jet skiing and it was a lot of fun. I didn’t know how to swim and neither did my husband so we had to wear life jackets hence we couldn’t go much deep but it was still fun. I had more riding the jet scooter.
You can also book a body massage or pedicure if you want to just relax. There are also different sports available on this resort. There was a badminton court, tennis court, swimming pool and basketball court. You can rent a bike to explore the island.
Personally, I’d suggest you don’t buy anything from there not even souvenirs. It is very expensive. I did get a shirt from there but that’s it. Also if you want to go for watersports, make sure you take all things necessary with you. Buying stuff from there is not at all a good idea. It’s way too expensive.
Hope this post helps you in planning your honeymoon in Maldives!
